Turkey

his Fall (Sept/Oct 2010), twenty-six travelers, including renowned Chef John Bishop of Bishop's Restaurant in Vancouver, enjoyed a unique and custom tour of Turkey combining tourist must-sees with the country's local secrets found off the beaten path. This wonderful trip also raised $11,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Tour operator, Intrepid Travel is known for being a green and grass roots tour company that specializes in showing tourists the behind the scenes and authenticity of a country in which they travel. Intrepid lived up to it's solid reputation.

The tour was jam packed from start to finish with a full spectrum of things to see and do in a country full of history and culture. Highlights included home cooked meals where the group was hosted in a local home, hiking the trails of Lycian Way, revealing beautiful sights of Oludeniz and it's beautiful blue lagoon, learning how to cook in a world-renowned culinary school in Istanbul and of course, shopping. As a bonus, this group enjoyed belly-aching laughs while discovering secrets Turkey had to offer. First-time visitors were left enamored and returning ones thrilled to experience so much new about this gorgeous country.
