North Shore Women’s Centre

The North Shore Women’s Centre (NSWC) is a non-profit organization and registered charity located in North Vancouver on Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Traditional Territories and serving the whole of the North Shore since 1973. We believe in a safe and just society for all women, with full access to all of society’s resources. We work from feminist and anti-oppression perspectives to improve the social, economic, legal and political status of women, and to support women’s self-empowerment.

Through a drop-in resource centre, we provide over 7,000 service contacts annually by offering women and girls a safe place to access a range of programs and services, such as a lounge with computers and office equipment, information, resources and referrals, peer counseling, safety planning, emergency food and toiletry supplies, a specialized lending library, a family law clinic, a single mother’s support group, computer training, a teen girls’ empowerment camp, a monthly workshop series, and a health and wellness program featuring holistic health treatments and drop-in exercise classes.

In addition, the North Shore Women’s Centre is host to the North Shore’s Coordinating Committee to End Violence Against Women in Relationships. This Committee is comprised of representatives from over twenty agencies working to provide an integrated response to ending relationship violence on the North Shore through service coordination, education and systemic response.
